About The English Golden Doodle

 The English Golden Doodle makes for an excellent furry family member. They are friendly, loyal, affectionate, and easily trained. All around, they are a goofy and lovable pet that will make you laugh on a daily basis.

Training and Exercise:

Like any well-rounded dog, regular exercise and socialization are important. The English golden doodles tend to be more mellow than their American counterparts, but will still thrive best when given daily exercise.

The Goldendoodle is an intelligent breed, which makes them easy to train. They thrive on engagement from their family members and it’s not uncommon for them to want to accompany you on even the smallest household errand ( aka they will follow you from room to room ). They respond very well with positive reinforcement.

If you plan on leaving them alone for a period of time, make sure they are exercised prior. A bored or lonely doodle can get creative with their entertainment... some might even say mischievous

If you are a busy household and plan on leaving them home alone often. A doodle may not be the best fit unless you consider hiring a dog walker or bringing them to doggy daycare. They are very social animals and want to spend time as part of the pack aka family.

Grooming:

Typically, a golden doodle has very minimal shedding. They should be brushed out regularly to avoid matting. Usually one good brushing a week will do the trick, but this is also dependent on their coat length, and activity. Doodles who spend a lot of time hiking or swimming may need a little more.

Their hair does grow fairly quickly, so getting them used to the groomer at an early age is important to ensure they are comfortable being handled by others.

Another thing to note: the tighter the curls, the more susceptible they are to matting. Loose wavy curls tend to be easier to brush and maintain
